The Port of Taichung is the second largest port in Taiwan. It includes industrial, fishing and business ports and can accommodate vessels of up to 60,000 tons. One of four international commercial ports in Taiwan, it covers a total area of 3793 hectares, has 50 wharves, 16 specialized zones, and three free trade zones.
Growth in cargo volume in the Port of Taichung was in hazardous products, fuel oil, cement clinker, and coal, however, to now meet current changes in worldwide marine transportation, the Port of Taichung is now developing as a Container feeder port, a distribution centre for agricultural and indigenous produce, a free-trade and logistics centre, trans-shipment shipping centre for oil, and centre for cross-strait passenger and freight services.*

In 2017 Page Macrae Engineering was approached to provide a dust-controlled solution for the discharge of soda ash at the port.
The result, two Page Macrae Enviro-Max 50e dust-controlled hoppers. Under construction since October 2019, the hoppers were completed last week and moved on Friday to Tauranga’s port to await shipment to Taiwan.
