For our newest tradesperson, Shaun O’Reilly, three years of motivation, learning and hard work means he is now a fully qualified mechanical engineer. Shaun is now a fitter/welder in our piping workshop and is enjoying this specialised field of engineering.
“Many of the pipes you are working on will be pressurised or will move things like water, fuel or chemicals, so quality is important,” says Shaun, “Every flange welded has to align perfectly, so when the pipework is installed onsite, everything fits perfectly. There is no room for error.”
“I’d recommend a career in engineering for anyone looking for an interesting and rewarding career. In engineering, every job is different, and you get to do work for many different industries,” say’s Shaun.
Shaun left school unsure about what he wanted to do as a career. He is now glad he pursued a career in engineering and thanks everyone who trained and mentored him during his apprenticeship.
