A Page Macrae Engineering team are in Whangarei assembling two silos used for the storage of sulphur. They are manufacturing the silos on a temporary worksite with the final installation site nearby.
Our day and night-shift teams reached a significant milestone last week. They completed the first roof section of the first silo. They are now on the home stretch to complete the lower sections and final roof section.
Meanwhile, our Mount Maunganui team fabricated the silo support structure in our workshops. Completing the structural part of the project in our workshops meant we were able to complete the components more efficiently.
It allowed us to meet our tight timeframes without delays caused by bad weather and the difficulties of working on a temporary site. We were able to utilise our heavy lifting capability to manoeuvre heavy steel beams throughout the fabrication and painting processes.
The structure sections were then transported to Whangarei and are now awaiting installation once civil engineering works and foundations are completed.
